Georgia

Jill also suggests: "For Georgia, I would recommend Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil in addition to the aforementioned GWTW." Here's Jill's review of the book.

This book of nonfiction by John Berendt, set in steamy Savannah, is written like a novel. The eccentric characters include society ladies, a redneck gigolo, a recluse, a profane Southern belle, a black drag queen, an antiques dealer, a piano-playing con artist, young blacks dancing the minuet at the black debutante ball, and Minerva, the voodoo priestess who works her magic in the graveyard at midnight.

Hi, Bonnie: I have finished my Georgia selection for this challenge - a delightful book called Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns. You can read my review here. I know, we need another Georgia book like a hole in the head - but this one does a good job portraying small-town Georgia life! =)

Jill, we have LOTS of books on some states, only one or two on some, and none for other states. The way I see it is we need lots of comments so we can then decide which of those suggested seems BEST to us. Thanks for sharing this one ... and your review of it.

Hi, Bonnie: When you started this challenge, I recommended "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," but I haven't had the pleasure of reading it. I just finished it and posted my review. I already read another story about Georgia for this challenge, but I couldn't resist this one.

Take care!
Jill
